Questions

How do I file a complaint against a trucking company?

Write to the company itself with the facts: when and where it happened, the truck or unit number, and what you saw. Ask them to confirm they received it. This page builds that email for you to send from your own account.

Is this the same as a complaint letter to a trucking company?

Yes, it covers the same ground. The builder writes a short, factual email; you can paste it into a letter or the company's web form instead.

Where do I send it?

Use the contact or safety page on the company's own website. The name and USDOT number on the cab door help you find the right company, and FMCSA's SAFER Company Snapshot shows its legal name.

Can I also report it to the government?

Yes. Safety complaints about commercial trucks can also go to FMCSA's National Consumer Complaint Database. That is a separate route from writing to the company.

Does it work for a tow truck?

Yes, if it is about how the tow truck was driven, write to the towing company the same way. Billing or towing-fee disputes are a different problem and this page does not cover them.
